Natural Bridge wallpaper, Arizona gets supersized solar plant, Frogzilla discovered

Spanish company to build one of world’s largest solar power plants in Arizona desert

Unlike most solar energy, Solana will use the sun’s heat, not its light, to produce power. Gila Bend can get as hot as 120 degrees (48.89 Celsius) in the summer.

Abengoa CEO Santiago Seage said the plant will use thousands of giant mirrors to harness the sun’s heat. That will heat up liquids, which will spin turbines — just like coal or other power plants but without the pollution.

I think that Portugal still has the record for the largest solar power generation plant in the world.

Frogzilla Giant Devil Frog Discovered

According to a recently published paper (Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences), the remains of the largest frog ever to exist were discovered in Madagascar. The frog (devil frog) measured 16-inch long and weighted approximately 10 pounds, the study days. The biggest frog that exists today (the goliath from West Africa) measures 12.5 inches and weights of 7.2 pounds

This frog fossil needs some public relations help. Called the devil frog, but we don’t know that it was evil. It might have been a very nice frog – bought its mother a nice Hallmark card and a jar of live flies on Mother’s Day, helped young frogs with their homework. Yet here they go and label it a devil just because of its size.

* Breakthrough discovered in diabetes treatment

Scientists say a painless treatment for type 1 or juvenile diabetes may only be a few years away, after a major breakthrough in stem cell technology.

Researchers in the US have created insulin-producing cells from human embryonic stem cells implanted in mice and found the technique alleviated diabetes-like symptoms.

The scientists say the approach could lead to a renewable source of cells for the treatment of diabetes and eliminate the need for insulin injections.

  • The wallpapers

Many of the wallpapers were uploaded at certain sizes and resized by the picture host so in most cases you'll have to resize them to fit your monitor. I've looked into several options, but can't find a host that is free, reliable and keeps the original size. The well known ad supported hosts will delete any photo that has not be downloaded for a while so they're out. Any money I spend on the this blog I would rather spend on the graphics then the place to host them.
