Unknown “Structures” Tugging at Universe, Study Says. Since I’m not exactly a wiz at physic I’ll skip to the analogy part of the artcle that we can all relate to,
In an attempt to simplify the mind-bending concept, Kashlinsky says to picture yourself floating in the middle of a vast ocean. As far as the eye can see, the ocean is smooth and the same in every direction, just as most astronomers believe the universe is. You would think that beyond the horizon, therefore, nothing is different.
“But then you discover a faint but coherent flow in your ocean,” Kashlinsky said. “You would deduce that the entire cosmos is not exactly like what you can see within your own horizon.”
In space those flows that you’re picturing in your imaginary ocean are 14 billion light-years away. Which leaves us to imagine a light-year. One way that was taught to me was the distance a beam of light can travel in one year.
West Coast Green 2008 Conference To Power Up with Solar from SolaRover
San Jose, CA.–West Coast Green, the nation’s largest conference and expo dedicated to green innovation, building, design and technology announced that SolaRover, a mobile solar power systems provider is joining forces with the conference to provide solar power to several major areas at the event, averting use of conventional electricity from being used. This is the most extensive known diversion of power to solar electricity that has been accomplished to date at the venue.
Instead of putting up a bog fossil fuel driven generator they set up a portable solar panel generator. The only decent photo i could find is on the home page of SolaRover. There is a little irony in that the solar generator is pulled by what looks to be a big dual axle pick-up truck – on products page.
